James Shadwell

Developer, Senior ERP Consultant

It seems like it was just yesterday that I started working at a small reseller/consulting organization as a software engineer. My job was to support and customize an accounting application called MAS 90 that was offered by a company called State of the Art, Inc. The truth is, however, it wasn’t just yesterday – it was 1994!  Today State of the Art, Inc. is The Sage Group and MAS 90 has grown into Sage 100 ERP.   The fact is I have been working with Sage solutions for the past 20 years. I have utilized my background in software engineering and mathematics to develop hundreds of custom solutions for Sage during that time.   In fact I was instrumental in developing and testing the first commercially sold electronic data interchange (EDI) solution for MAS 90/Sage 100.  Needless to say, over the years I have acquired an intimate understanding of the MAS product line’s internal design and code base.

I believe, however, that what makes me such an effective Sage product consultant is my unique ability to communicate comfortably with end users. I enjoy working directly with clients to discuss and analyze complex issues.   More importantly I consider it my duty to help clients implement real and effective solutions to those problems. It is extremely satisfying when a customer and I can work together to scrutinize a problem/pain and then implement solution(s) that yield a good – no, great – result!
